What We Believe

We believe that there is one true and living God. He is the Maker and Supreme Ruler of heaven and earth.  God is perfectly holy and sovereign over all His universe.  He is all-powerful, all-knowing, all-wise, and everywhere present.  We owe Him the highest love, reverence, and obedience. The Godhead consists of three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit who are equal in every divine attribute.

We believe the Holy Bible was written by men who were divinely inspired by God.  Therefore, all 66 books in their original languages are perfect treasures of heavenly instruction.  The Bible has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth without any mixture of error for its matter.  It is totally true and trustworthy.  It is the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and religious opinions should be tried.

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the second Person of the Triune God.  He is fully God and fully man.  He was born of a virgin.  He lived a sinless life, died on a Roman cross, becoming our substitute, and taking the full punishment for the sins of all who would obey Him in a believing way.  On the third day He was resurrected from the dead as proof that the Father had accepted His sacrifice for sin and ensuring that all who believe in Him would also be resurrected from the dead.

The Holy Spirit is the third Person of the Triune God who convicts the world of sin, brings spiritually dead sinners to spiritual life, and dwells in them, empowering them to live in obedience to God.

We believe that man is a special creation of God made in His image.  Man was made sinless, but by his voluntary action man fell from that holy and happy state.  All mankind are now sinners not by constraint but by choice.  They are by nature utterly void of that holiness required by the law of God, positively inclined to evil, and therefore under the just condemnation to external ruin, without defense or excuse.

We believe that the salvation of sinners is wholly by God’s grace.  All who turn away from their sin and turn to God receiving the Lord Jesus Christ by faith are saved.  Their sins are forgiven, and they receive eternal life.

Those who repent of their sin, believe in Jesus Christ and His work on the cross, and receive Him by faith will spend eternity in heaven.  Those who do not believe will endure an eternal punishment in hell.
